New Haven Church Palisade Colorado, formerly known as Palisade P.H. Church, was founded on September 28, 1939. It Began with 9 members: Leona Carey, Daisy Gibson, Sister Edwards, Lizzie Adams, Tom Towns, Wilson Carey, Oma Rice, Rev & Mrs. Spears.
Sunday October 1, 2023 they celebrated 84 years of ministry in the Palisade community. "Old Fashioned Sunday", as they call it, is their way of commemorating their humble beginnings as they dress up in pioneer attire. They stand firmly on God’s word to Jeremiah regarding the "The Old Paths”.
Thus says the LORD: “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls.” - Jeremiah 6:16-20 (NKJV)
The Carey’s started pastoring in late 1987 and continue to present day. Pastor Bobby was bi-vocational working at Palisade High School up until a few years ago. His good testimony is evident. Every time I have dinner with him at Dennys (or Bobby’s), many of his former students will stop to talk to him and thank him. Ruth Carey is an accomplished musician on the piano and accordion; she also teaches and leads the women of their church.
Their church mantra is, "Keep on Keeping on for Jesus”. Endurance, durability, and service are words that define New Haven Church. Posterity is their focus - leaving a church for the next generation.
“It has been an honor, privilege, and blessing to Pastor this little country church and to be a part of its history as well as member of International Pentecostal Holiness Church in the Rocky Mountain Conference. God has been good and continues to bless the work here in Palisade."
Pastor Bobby
I have known the Carey’s for several years, and I have witnessed God working through them not only in Palisade but also to the Native American people and worldwide through their generosity. Thank you, Pastor Bob and Sister Ruth, for your faithfulness. May the Lord continue to God bless and keep you.
May the Lord continue to God bless and keep you.
