Valley of Ditches I
I Kings 3:14-18
14 Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or even notice you. 15 But now bring me a harpist.” While the harpist was playing, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha 16 and he said, “This is what the LORD says: Make this valley full of ditches. 17 For this is what the LORD says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. 18 This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD; he will also hand Moab over to you.
“Obedience and faith once interlocked move the hand of God. God works in the realm of the impossible a place where the immeasurable, miraculous and momentous astound natural man” God is ready to help us, even though at times our mistakes and attitudes have put us in difficult circumstances.
I Peter 3:12a
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
Sometimes our difficulties are because of... our own bad judgment! Samson played around with Delilah, Naomi walked around hopeless and dejected, “Call me Mara”
Proverbs 19:3
“A man's own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD.”
The Message says it this way,
“People ruin their lives by their own stupidity, so why does GOD always get blamed?”
Lack of understanding – Jacob said,
“All these things are against me.” (Genesis 4:36)
Just like Jacob, we feel everything is against us and crashing down on us, but...
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
God is testing us –
Genesis 22:1He tested Abraham...

and He tested Job,...
God will surely test you and me!
Satan is attacking us
I Peter 5:8
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
God does not always choose the expected, the usual or the common way of doing things.
Isaiah 55:8
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.
“Make the valley full of ditches”. Know, recognize and understand this, when God does something, it will be unmistakable that it was Him, and that did it. We are to, dig ditches not graves.
I Corinthians 1:27a
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise;
I wonder, if God asks you to do something out of the ordinary, will you do it? |
