THANKSGIVINGCheryl Milhorn; WIN Director
We celebrate this holiday each year, with lots of food, football, and family. But do we really know what we are celebrating? In the retail industry, it is a holiday sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas; a day to get past so the Christmas shopping can begin, and in recent years, that shopping has stolen this holiday almost completely!
The birth of this holiday began with the Colonists who had survived their first year in America. They had to learn what to plant for their survival in the next year. Upon harvest, they then celebrated with a meal which was probably much different from what we see on our tables today.
I imagine there were many prayers offered during the planting and harvesting in that first year. In reading some history of that time, we learn that many folks did not survive the first year, due to illness, many of whom were women and children.
We sometimes want to glamorize this difficult time in our history, but ignore the harsh reality. Life for the early settlers was hard. The Indians were a reality, and the language barrier was real, but survival was celebrated.
As we gather around our respective Thanksgiving tables this year, lets take some time to reflect on exactly what it means to "Give Thanks".
Our prayers should be filled with thanks, on this day and every day. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Cheryl

WHAT'S YOUR MISSION?Jerry Milhorn; Mission's Director
To all pastors in the Rocky Mountain Conference:
Could you please inform me which missionaries your church is currently supporting? For example, Arise Fellowship is supporting the following missionaries: Trevor Clowers and Janine Wooten, both in Wales, Ron and Sharon Wooten in several African nations, Heriberto and Tanya Martinez in Guatemala and Jonathan and Angie Burgess from Colorado and their multiple missionary endeavors.
As the Rocky Mountain Missions Director, it would be of great help to me in both praying for your church missions outreach, as well as for your missionaries.
Please send me this information by means of email.
God bless you and your faithfulness to the Call.
Jerry
