ADVENT 2022Bishop Larry Herrera
Isaiah 9:6
|
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. |

Entering the Advent Season is always a good time to pause and reflect on the past year and to look forward to the New Year with hope, peace, joy, and love. Let us reflect on these words...
HOPE
Hope, as it has been said, is one of the greatest gifts a man can receive. Jeremiah wrote, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD; and the Lord would give us hope and a future.” Paul added to it by the big three; faith, hope, and love. Hope is desire that is accompanied by expectation. My personal prayer for you is that those things you are hoping for, in 2023, will come to your expected end...
PEACE
Robert Fulghum wrote, “Peace is not something you wish for; it is something you make, something you are, and something you give away”. The turmoils of 2022 will continue right into 2023, and peace will be far from many people. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” We have peace because He is the Prince of Peace"...
JOY
This joy that I have, the world didn’t give it and the world can’t take it away. Too often we confuse happiness with joy. Happiness fades away when the newness is gone, but joy remains through thick and thin, good times and bad, in wealth and in want. Isaiah said, “With joy we will draw water from the wells of salvation and He will give us the oil of joy for mourning”. Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Repeat the sounding joy...
LOVE
Rev. H. R. L. Sheppard said, “Love is the only weapon we need”. Love has conquered! It triumphs over the enemy, it silences the skeptic, it baffles the educated, and it brings Kings and Rulers to their knees. Love confuses the enemy because they do not know how to fight it. Paul told the Corinthians, “I will show you a more excellent way, and the greatest of all is love”...
Have a very Merry Christmas!
